Melanie Child is an upcycled clothing label dedicated to the creative redesign of pre-loved and second hand items. The labels aesthetic is thought provoking, sculptural, with a dark edge. Some pieces reflect the shapes and silhouettes of the original garment, while others use more subtle detail integrated into the finished piece. The main philosophy behind the label is to not use anything new, with exception of trims. Quality second hand garments and fabrics are sourced locally as much as possible. We live in a world saturated with mass production and consumption..why add to it? Melanie Child makes limited runs and one-off pieces for the 'hunter and collector'..whichever age or social demographic you may be. Garments are designed with YOU in mind, not the mass-market, and are proudly made in Dunedin, NZ.
